More DescriptionTombstone, Arizona had the well-deserved reputation of being the toughest mining camp in the 1880s Southwest. Local officers were powerless against the outlaws who robbed stages and mines with impunity. But then came Alamo Bowie whose assignment was to stop the attacks against the Wells Fargo Express lines. In order to accomplish this near-impossible feat, Bowie must come face-to-face with the notorious Three-Finger Jake – the fastest gunfighter in all of Arizona. CHARLES M. MARTIN came by his western knowledge first-hand. He worked for the California Land and Cattle Company; he fought in Mexico as a mercenary on the side of Pancho Villa; and he worked on cattle ranches in various parts of the American Southwest. His novels featuring Alamo Bowie, a Wells Fargo trouble-shooter, appealed to movie cowboy Buck Jones, who made them into motion pictures. His characters were so real to him that he created a graveyard for those who dies in his backyard. By 1950 there were over 2,000 gravestones in his private boothill.
