During the rune mage ritual, a tragedy befalls the clan. Losing his mother, the Queen, Taryn begins his quest for revenge, while seeking out the dragon who also kidnapped his sister; who is now the new Queen of the Grove. With cunning and a touch of bad luck, Taryn befriends a group of misfits to help him on his journeys. While on his quest, Taryn, through the help of his new found friends, learns more about his rune arts, becomes a fugitive, and finds out a secret that has been kept from him his whole life.
