The poor woman had fallen from the Felton theme park train at Roaring Camp as it completed its annual scary Halloween night ride up Bear Mountain. Maria's brother went over the side of the open-air car with her and is missing. Josephine and her friends scour the little town of Felton, Roaring Camp and the countryside for clues, which seem to appear randomly in the form of very expensive antique jewelry. Before Jo can deduce what actually happened on the horrific train ride, she must locate witnesses. This story focuses heavily on Josephine's best friend, Alicia, who has become very involved in the mystery. Josephine's friends are all in, helping her until they find themselves in a real pickle. No phone, no directions, and no easy way out of a seemingly endless California wilderness.
