Her tribe is threatened by enforcement of the 1835 Indian Removal Act. They work together to save her village from the forced relocation of the tribe by the U. S. Army, which would have resulted in a substantial loss of life. They plan to bring the tribe to safety and take the people to the Quapaw Indians in Arkansas. The journey is still difficult but the vast majority of lives are saved.
