Solving murders is easy when you can speak to the victims.
Easier, anyway.
But then Lucas Rathbone - newspaper reporter, reluctant psychic, and even more reluctant amateur sleuth - has his life in the sleepy English village of Castlebury Magna interrupted by Frankie, a recently deceased London gangster who claims his "suicide" was nothing of the sort.
However, that's only the start of Lucas' problems...
In the first five novellas in the Lucas Rathbone Mysteries, Lucas must deal with threats from Frankie's gangster buddies, a different kind of threat from his best friend Henry (who is not pleased to discover his younger sister Clara is the object of Lucas' romantic daydreams) and Tommy, Clara's annoyingly handsome and charming co-worker, who clearly has his sights set on her as well.
And that's before Lucas can even think about the ghost of a demanding Jazz singer, or saving a man from a terminal justice he doesn't deserve, or a murderous con man who has already chosen his next victim, or three dozen ghosts with no idea why they're still lingering in the hospital where they died.
All of which is enough to give the poor chap a thumping headache, to say the least.
If you like old fashioned murder mysteries set in the 1920s with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end, plus sharp wit and a little romance for good measure, then you'll love The Lucas Rathbone Mysteries.

Praise for Saffron Amatti
"If you like Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries with a dash of paranormal activities on the side, then you'll love [The Ghost of a Story]!"
"Clever and fast-paced with all the twists and turns you want in a cozy mystery. But what really makes a Lucas Rathbone book so enjoyable, is the dynamic between the characters. Clara is so spunky and feisty, while Lucas himself is delightfully awkward. Plus, the language Amatti uses transports you back in time through truly authentic storytelling."
"A great read with fun, likable characters. This was the kind of story I could read multiple times and enjoy! The paranormal aspect aided the story rather than overwhelming it."
