Jillian Lauren is a New York Times Best Selling author of such works as Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, Pretty, and Everything You Ever Wanted. She grew up in Livingston, New Jersey and graduated from Newark Academy in 1991. She then moved to New York Ciity where she studied acting at New York University. Soon after, she started exotic dancing in New York and became an escort. This led to being selected to join the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei for several years. She then sttended Antioch University and graduated with an MFA in creative writing. She used her degree to begin her writing career. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and Los Angeles Magazine.
