More DescriptionMolecules like porphyrins and phthalocyanines show exceptional properties and are utilized in various research fields. Porphyrins occur naturally and are also synthesized for multiple applications, while phthalocyanines are purely synthetic but possess similar properties to porphyrins. These macrocycles, with their unique absorption properties, show great potential in applications, such as solar cells. This work primarily focuses on the optimized synthesis of linear trans-A_2B_2porphyrins, hybrid structures combining porphyrins and phthalocyanines, as well as ABAB-phthalocyanines. It aims to investigate their absorption properties and explore potential functionalizations. Additionally, the linear linkers are used in the fabrication of SURMOFs. Moreover, the reactivity of bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes, commonly used as bioisosteres, is explored, with a particular focus on sulfoxide functionalized derivatives. Sulfoxides offer potential for the introduction of bioactive functional groups in subsequent reaction steps. Furthermore, the synthesis of pyrrole-based macrocycles containing bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane units is developed.
