More Description This is a 8,000 words CLEAN story with an HEA. Whole Serial is part of a bigger plot. Check for other books in this serial. Expelled from Foyet, Illinois by the FBI, and furious at the corruption, Illinois State CID Officers Michael Frante and Tara Winter are forced to take another case and keep their mouths shut. When three dwarves are found hacked to pieces at the state fair...they're called in to investigate. Michael and Tara begrudgingly set aside the Cyborg Strangler Conspiracy, and what they find at the state fair is every bit as dark. The saying goes that loves heals all...but Michael and Tara find the opposite to be true. Does love kill?----------------------------------------------------------EXCERPT FROM BOOKTara passed Michael and stood directly over the table, examining all the pieces of human flesh that were available for her perusal. The longer she stood over the table, the more she could see the three, distinct human figures. "Bippo, Boppo, and Burpo," Dr. Turner said. "Illinois State Fair, thirty years running." "Their real names," Michael said, his irritation not hidden. "What are their real names?" "Michael Steyn, George Harris, and Jon Lipper." "They're not siblings," Michael said. "No, that was for the act and..." "People like us never bothered to notice that they looked nothing alike apart from the fact that they were all dwarves," Tara said quietly. "I read about them in the paper a few years back. They met in Vietnam." "Dwarves were in Vietnam?" Michael asked. "Cruelly, for the most part," Tara responded. "These three were lucky to all survive. They were used to crawl through Viet Cong tunnels and see what was down there. Their death rate was alarmingly high. The army didn't bother to try and cover it up until a reporter from the Times came knocking in the early eighties. Still, the book he wrote about it didn't get too much attention. These three talked to the writer. I know that. How'd they go, Turner?"Dr. Turner walked up to the table and stood in between Michael and Tara, looking down at the horror as if with fresh eyes. The humor that was his usual coping mechanism offered nothing for him in this particular situation. The doctor was just another observer of the despicable acts of human nature like the two officers. "Official cause of death for all three is blood loss. They were hacked to pieces, as you can very well see. Not the sharpest of blades, thick steel, probably a machete of some sort." "Like the sort you use to chop through jungles?" Michael asked. "I don't know of any other kind of machete."AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a story with an HEA.
