Paulus George Markgraf was born in 1731 in Neumberg or Homburg. He emigrated to Paulskoye, Samara, Volga, Russia, on July 7, 1767. Paulus George arrived at Oranienbaum, Russia on 15 September 1766. His family were part of the colonists of Recruiter Beauregard, who sailed from Luebeck by the Luebeck ship "Der Junge Heinrich," skippered by Heinrich Niemann.
