More DescriptionDrifter Hal Morrison is a young fellow without much ambition or education. At the employment office, an employee sends Hal to Marta's Place, a rundown diner on the seedy side of town. Not sure just what he'll be doing, Hal is up for anything, dishwasher, kitchen helper ; whatever. He's done it all. Marta turns out to be something else. Short and chubby with a penchant for diamond rings, lots diamond rings, Marta has legs like a baby elephant, but along with attitude, she has a naughty twinkle in her eye and she does all the cooking. Assigned to be a counterman, Hal gets quickly used to the rough and ready customers that come in for Marta's good home-cooking. As Marta gets to know Hal, she shows more interest and trust, soon allowing him to count the till at the end of the day and Hal too, can't help becoming interested in his new job. Soon, she allows Hal to paint the dismal dining room and put up some pictures and generally make the place look better. He even comes up with a couple of ideas to improve the menu... .But when a hot blonde starts popping in and Hal's eyes start popping out, Marta quickly lets him know she doesn't appreciate his attentions to this new customer. As time goes on, Hal finds himself being more and more seduced by Marta as she buys him clothing, takes him on short trips to places like Reno and eventually buys him a snappy convertible and even a Rolex watch. With the table set for murder and other unexpected complications, Hal soon finds his life spinning out of control as detectives begin hounding him night and day and crime figures loom up seemingly out of nowhere.
