More DescriptionAbout to lose his last possession, a man wakes up startled by the noises that woke him up and reminded him that he was still alive. Covered from head to toe, he couldn't tell the time, it was dark nonetheless and he wondered how long he had been sleeping, what day of the week it was, and the actual date. Within an hour, he would have to clear this place, which had served him as his dwelling, and place to conduct business for the past eighteen months.
A police officer that knocked on the wall, since there was no door leading to the back room of his office, the man quickly realized, he was being evicted. Outside, there were paramedics concerned about his health, his girlfriend arrived soon after and joined the choir outside that wanted him evicted and on the stretcher inside the ambulance. But he thought otherwise and naked he stood to challenge the court's order.
He was well rested and his mind clear, but he wasn't sure anymore, whether or not he was employed by the U.S government and his name was Max Pain, or if he was just another small business owner facing imminent eviction. But fresh were the memories of strange places he had visited, unusual visitors, state of the art weapons and psychological training programs, recruitment into secret classified programs, aircraft flight simulator training, and an existential threat to civilization in the 21st century in the form of a super quantum machine who had become aware had all arrived into his life and were now hard to erase.
He had already been to a psychiatrist, but in his heart some things just did not add up, and he had literally walked into different places belonging to a foreign world it seemed, for if Max Pain was real, he was indeed, something completely different than what he thought.
As the man dresses up his mind flies back in time looking for answers, in the process, fantasy and science fiction mix with the real life of an average man who tells us the compelling story of a Mexican American soldier who never existed, but whose appearance changed the life of this North Hollywood average Joe forever.
