More DescriptionThe McCall tradition of design was established by the author's uncle, William Frank McCall, Jr., FAIA. This book explores more work by this Southern master's architectural and interior design (there are two books extant on his portfolio). His award-winning work left a legacy by example and approach that embodies American classicism and the rules of scale and proportion. Those tenets have literally disappeared in most architectural endeavors today. In addiiton, his nephew, who taught interior design and campus planning as a college professor and later established his own design business, has included a retrospective of his work as well. Serving as author for this book, John McCall rediscovers the contributions, the challenges and even the humorous side of two practioners from the same family. Lavishly illustrated primarily in color and with photographs never published previously, this essay provides a record of achieving the design ideal--one which seems to be something of the past, with rare exception.
