Twenty years ago Janet got pregnant in her sophomore year of college. The father? Her then-boyfriend, William Biggs. Unfortunately, however, Janet never gets the chance to tell him; engaged to another woman, William moves on. Janet, devastated, drops out of college, eventually meeting successful architect Jack Mulligan. They marry, and Jack adopts the child, Dakota, taking her as his own. Janet manages to finish school and become a successful real estate agent in Miami.
William Biggs, meanwhile, is a successful financial analyst with his own firm, married to the beautiful Carrie, with whom he has two great kids, Scott and Megan. Life, for Will, is pretty much ideal: the perfect marriage, super job, great family.
All appears to be going well--until tragedy strikes, that is, a tragedy that will force these two families to come together and put their differences aside in order to heal, to love and---most important of all--forgive.
