Betty Rowlands was a mystery writer, born in 1923. She began writing when she was in her mid-sixties. In 1988, she won the Sunday Express/Veuve Clicquot Crime Short Story of the Year. That was the beginning of her writing career. She continued on, writing over twenty-five books. Her series included the Melissa Craig mysteries and the Sukey Reynolds mysteries. She was an active member of the Crime Writer's Association. She became known as "the queen of cozy crime." On July 29, 2020, she died at the age of 96.
