More DescriptionSince the Rome IV 2nd edition publication five years ago, the MDCP has redefined how clinicians treat patients with even the most complex Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction (DGBI). We know that just diagnosing IBS, functional dyspepsia, or centrally mediated abdominal pain is not sufficient. There are dimensional differences in the clinical presentation and treatment methods. For example, a patient with IBS-D with mild and occasional abdominal discomfort symptoms and loose stools and functioning without impairment would be treated differently from a patient with the same diagnosis having continuous severe and disabling pain co-morbid anxiety disorder with fears of incontinence when leaving the house. The MDCP method provides a multidimensional personalized approach to understanding and treating any patient with a DGBI.
