More Description Harris Bronson, used-car mogul and hardscrabble millionaire, gasps his last breath after a savage attack at his all-but deserted West Lake Hills mansion.
Esteban Westlund, a 40-something Mexican American homicide detective, is tasked with determining who murdered the besmirched businessman. Confounding him are two different weapons. Does this felonious comingling suggest disparate motives? Perpetrators? Westlund - an inveterate cynic with the tendencies of a mystic - views the world through a DSM glass darkly but is still wont to take umbrage at the outrageous transgressions he encounters. Still, he often feels some small compassion for the malefactors, brooding over how many souls, reputations, and relationships will be destroyed as he maladroitly traverses the detritus of lives gone wrong. If he is to arrive at the terminus of truth, these requisite sacrifices must be laid on the altar of veracity. But what if he misses the mark? What woeful wreckage will his investigative reverberations occasion?
Follow along with Westlund as he struggles with his disposition towards despondency, all the while forcing humor upon the gloomy, dullard minutiae and daily struggles of an urban cop. Cast glances askance with him at the 90s-era Capitol of Texas' ruling class.
