More DescriptionAnnie Young is a multi-lingual Third Culture Kid. She was born in New England but grew up in several European countries and is not totally at home in any of the cultures. She earns her living as a contract tech-writer, working part time so she can indulge in her real passion, historical research. Thus when her parents inherit a home on the Massachusetts North Shore and leave Geneva, Switzerland, and seem to be settling in to a new life, she is confused. She thought they were happy in Geneva, but her mother is opening an art gallery and her father is talking about moving back to the States permanently. Her father and his childhood chums, now men in their sixties, rope her into preparing an educational CD-Rom about the founding of America. When she previews it at the local elementary school, it causes a major political incident in the village. When she helps her father clean out the basement they find a hidden room with a skeleton dressed in Pre-Civil War rags and a diary written by a slave escaping via the Underground Railroad. Only later is it noticed by the forensic medical examiner that the skeleton has modern dentistry. She and handsome freelance journalist Des , who is interested in Annie as a possible girl friend, set out to solve the murder despite the visit of her almost fianc#65533;, a French police chief and his daughter. At the same time Annie gets caught up in a modern underground railroad as she and her mother's partner at the art gallery, Magda, a flamboyant Hungarian artist, try to save a young woman from an abusive husband.D-L Nelson is a Swiss-American that divides her time between Geneva, Switzerland and Argel#65533;s-sur-mer, France, which she loves as much as Annie loves it.
