A corporate mergers and acquisitions expert, recently retired, is murdered. The only gang this looks good on around Rampike Beach are catamaran addicts. They hang out at a dive bar named Wasted Time. Mostly they talk too loud and drink too much. The retired executive is Paul Balander. His wife is better on this murder than those catamaran addicts. She had the best opportunity to make the kill. Her wealthy friends back in The Five Cliffs District encourage her to flee Rampike Beach and then avoid extradition if that's what it takes.
Rampike Beach PD is a very small police department. Retired bike cop, and former big city police captain Ken Lamm, probably has a better chance of solving this crime than Rampike Beach PD. Lamm is a somewhat nearby neighbor to the Balanders back home in the rolling hills, Virginias resort enclave of The Five Cliffs District. He'll investigate this murder mostly from a beach house on the Atlantic. He might enjoy a glass of wine or two along with the ocean view. He'll need to hope he's not too near the murderer, or the murderer too near him as he's doing this.
