Nas Smith Island

This story is largely fiction, but with some personal experiences interwoven. The reader is challenged to detect which is which. This 'madhouse' due to its' commanding officer, who is a Lieutenant Commander, looks upon the establishment as his personal property. This story is largely fiction, but with some personal experiences interwoven. The reader is challenged to detect which is which. This 'madhouse' due to its' commanding officer, who is a Lieutenant Commander, looks upon the establishment as his personal property. He burdens his people with so many restrictions that he has earned the enmity of all under his command. There is the discovery of a body in the sewage lagoon, which clearly was murder. Then the crash and burning of an R5O aircraft due to failure to remove the sandbags from the lavatory. While unintentional it clearly was pilot error. Then there was the sad case of the executive officer that was the pilot of another R5O in which his wife perished when it crashed and burned. Following the R5O crash at Smith Island the poor executive officer sought to atone for the death of his wife by setting the interior of his car on fire while locked inside.
