Set in the summer of 84, Jason Sedlack, a teenage outcast finds what he believes to be the solution for his alienated geek-hood and the catalyst for his social migration from being no one to becoming some one. Initially believing that being the proud owner and rider of the latest cool-guy bike - a Shwinn Strand-Cruiser - would catapult him into cool-ville, he seeks economical support from his parents in order to instantly obtain the object of his desire. Unfortunately for Jason, his father holds to a strong Puritan work ethic that forces Jason's need for instant gratification be put on hold in order to instill a principle of responsibility: One must give to get...toil and labor for the goods one possesses. Eager for the goal, Jason agrees to a summer job designed by his parents; to work on a farm across the state with a lonely widowed woman. There he goes through the crucible of change. and in the end, Jason discovers that his rite of passage wasn't the result of owning an inanimate object. But rather through natures use of a lonely widowed woman who taught him the real aspects of being a man resulting from the context of an open, growth producing relationship.
