More DescriptionFor more than four decades, Wyoming based artist Neltje has been creating art influenced by the Wyoming landscape and her experiences as a woman. She has experimented with a variety of media and materials that range from charcoal, Sumi-e ink, collage and assemblage to sculpture. Her investigations in these materials, combined with the intensity of her emotions and keen mind, have become the underpinnings for her primary mode of expression: painting.Neltje. Painting. 1990-2012 examines the evolution of Neltje's most recent paintings in consideration of her earliest work with landscapes, the female from, and abstract expressionism. It presents some of her most sprawling works and complex works on paper in supreme quality, including some works that could only be adequately featured in the form of fold-out pages. Through the works contained within this catalogue, the breadth and depth of Neltje's artistic expression is revealed. This catalogue was published in celebration of an exhibition of the same name at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.
