It took me a bit to get this for the grand re-opening of my museum in print. But this one ...hell I had to rework the entire namesake to correct a few things on this and re-introducing the second namesake hoping time for C. M. Pacione's 52nd birthday well let's see what happens there shall we.
There were quite a few talented minds in this as Mick Mercer said it was interesting this modern era rubbing shoulders gently with longtime long deceased greats. This one in terms of the size of the anthologies it's in between what Tabloid Purposes 3 was as the Lulu.com versions and what it will be in the new versions as I had to trim out three problematic writers. This anthology -- about 60% of the modern authors stayed in touch as Deborah Di Paolo (you may better know her as http://www.debbied.com as she makes her literary debut.) A horror actress introduced to me via Tracy "Necrostein" Crockett came on the fray.
A few of the submissions came way of word-of-mouth by Deborah. A few came on board in the ashes of S. E. Cox folding her imprint after fucking over several authors. What she attempted to pull with me -- well as an end result her only presence online is Fanfiction.net; her only fame here on forward. One of them came after reading my story, Wandering In Darkness and Terry "Horns" Erwin who like me, emerged from The House of Pain as he was from the 1999-2000 era of the e-zine followed my journal on Diary-X since writing Encumbering.
He had choice words for those who had warned him not to work with me. He did a backhanded blurb to the author who posted every link to every story in Tabloid Purposes. When he saw The Ward he said I was the stronger author of the two. At the same time he praises the book the author got backhanded.
So this story in my second namesake of mine basically scares the living shit out of a fictionalized guidance councilor who her last names happens to be Mitchell. This has some stories which are truly frightening and the story had me posting a warning before the story starts is "Danielle's Autopsy Table" it was one that was truly fucked up without the strong language.
This anthology has more surprises than Veronica Freeman's reading patterns. I was looking up her wish list on Amazon.com and was going, "Wait she's looking for what? Okay I need to contact a few of my correspondents to hook her up with this as they contributed to the book." This is about the size of what Tabloid Purposes 3 will be when it's rebooted and revamped. Wandering In Darkness is the most frightening horror work I did in the 6300 word range. Every horror story in the modern era is as frightening as their counterparts in the public domain. This anthology -- I hope you're not disappointed by the modern era stories and if you're judging that an anthology sucks because one story you really have to be unfair to the rest of the writers on this. The modern authors put a lot of effort in each story and I enjoyed reading them in the selection process. Each writer in this project are my personal guest as is my cousin. Wandering In Darkness interacts with The Pattern Of Diagnosis, The Cabbie Homicide and Library of Bones. This version got an even more abrasive revision -- CreateSpace.com support called this one interesting in the layout; one of them freaked out as they didn't understand the Inland North Accent (this is a Rust Belt area.) Now let's see if they greenlight this. I find it cool I worked with my extended family on this one. What does Gothic Horror look like when it comes from the rust belt -- it's played up tougher. The Midwest Gothic is brutality and elegance combined. There are some stories that are quite brutal in this one. Not for the faint of heart with this.
