Author Biography
Evans, Rowland (Author)
Rowland Evans, 1921 - 2001 Rowland Evans was born in 1921 in White Marsh, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his role as a CNN host and a syndicated columnist with the New York Herald Tribune. He attended Yale University and earned his degree in 1941. Following his graduation, Evans joined the Marines during World War II and served in the Solomon Islands.

Evans first job as a reporter was with the now defunct Philadelphia Bulletin. He later left to cover Washington D. C. and the Senate for the Associated Press, eventually landing a job at the Herald Tribune with fellow columnist Robert Novak. The two covered politics in a column entitled "Inside Report", known for making politicians squirm. They also hosted a political interview show called "Evans and Novak" that remained popular for over twenty years. Evans and Novak co-authored several books on presidential politics together, after Evans had retired from the column. The two most well known of those books are "Lyndon B. Johnson: The Exercise of Power" and "The Reagan Revolution".

Rowland Evans died of cancer at Georgetown University Hospital on March 24, 2001, at the age of 79, after suffering poor health for several years.
