Normal Isn't Normal is a book of poems from author Robert Benefiel. The work included in this collection were all written in 2017-2018. During this time the author had begun to lean towards more of an exploration of his own domesticity, and the effects on his work. Some of the poems reflect on earlier times in the author's life and the fondness one might have even for their own failures and freedom, while others have a tendency to focus on raising children and being a husband. The title itself shows how things can change while unnoticed, such as one season into another, or one lifestyle into another. The work tends to recognize both the acceptance, and the struggle, of a person who still works a full time job while raising a family and yet still needs the fulfillment and release of creativity.
