More DescriptionWhat person hasn t felt, at some time in their life, powerless to control the world around them, or confused about what to believe in or fight for? Is there a destiny or do the choices we make create destiny? Orphan Park is a satirical, literary urban fantasy about these very questions. These questions come into play in the life of a boy, a thirteen-year-old foster child named Big Mac. When his foster mother, Mamma Jewell, asks him to take his younger brother, who doesn t speak, to the park one afternoon, everything changes for them. The park functions as a full-fledged world, where children act like adults, create dictatorships, governments and societies. The different playgrounds functions as different societies or countries within this child-run world. But when faced with an epic battle between the societies, Mac is forced to decide between saving the life of his brother and the strange vigilante girl he loves. Mac also has an idea to save the children of the orphan playground, although he isn t sure if he can or if he even should.
