But how do you unite a politically fragmented military? Answer? Get them involved in a war. When the KGB seeks help from the CIA to prevent a coup against Gorbachev, Bill Jensen isn't sure if he's being played by Soviet disinformation, or if he has a role to play in stopping a potential war between the superpowers. Needing boots on the ground to verify the information, he sends Jacob Kelly to penetrate the headquarters of the Soviet Red Banner Pacific Fleet. When Kelly is compromised it becomes a race to extract him before the shooting starts. The United States navy soon finds itself a foil for the political ambitions of a rogue Soviet admiral and the end result isn't going to be pretty.
