More Description"Parable of the Bridge" uses the history of the famous Stari Most Bridge in Bosnia to illustrate the story of the Bible in parable form. The original building of the bridge, its bringing together of different cultures, its destruction during the Bosnian conflict, the building of the temporary bridge and the building of the new, permanent bridge are alluded to in the book. These events represent the creation of the world, the close bridge between God and man, the fall of man and the destruction of the bridge, the temporary bridge being built and the bringing together of the different cultures of God and man through the coming and building of the permanent bridge, God's Son. The characters are the King, His Ambassador, the imposter who seeks to defame and ultimately destroy the Ambassador, and a little boy who finds the King on the bridge at the end of the story. Because the characters are not named, the book can be appreciated by both secular and religious readers and adults as well as children. The book presents universal themes of the importance of unconditional love and acceptance and appreciation of cultural diversity. Each printed page of the book is illustrated with a vividly colored picture in medieval motif. One of the pictures, repeated on the cover, is of a bridge which looks very much like the Stari Most itself.
