More DescriptionRichard Erwin Harper was born on a large historic estate in Somerset, Maryland. His mother, Elizabeth Harper, raised him. She kept her famous maiden name and raised Richard as a Harper. Their family dates back to a time before the Revolutionary War, and their wealth was in the millions. Richard was a Franklin County Ohio Homicide Detective along with his friend Detective Yates. In July 2018, Harper lost both his mother to an unknown illness and his very close friend and mentor, Detective Carl Yates, to a bullet from a criminal element while investigating the Kiser Credit Union robbery and homicide case. Harper began to question whether or not he wanted to remain a homicide detective. Within a month, he had resigned from the Franklin County Sheriff's department. Richard was now the only living survivor from the Harper clan. He changed the Somerset family estate into a museum in honor of his mother. He had a personal wealth of a little over a hundred million dollars. It wasn't until he decided to move to Florida that he felt normal and relaxed. After working with an old friend Sarasota County Sheriff, Ronald Beckett as a consultant on several high-profile cases, he decided to become a Private Investigator in Florida. The best change in Harper's life was the moment he met Melissa Richardson. By the end of June 2020, Melissa and Richard were married, and he had purchased a large estate on North Casey Key.
