When I was eight years old, my father decided to bring me to his business conferences. I went to the same conference for several years, and each year, the speaker repeatedly preached financial reform. I often wondered how so many adults found themselves in financial difficulty. As an eight-year-old, I did not understand the complexities of money - but I knew people were not handling money well. I could even see my childhood friends spending their nickels and dimes on candy and toys. As I grew older, I continued carrying the desire to make a difference in the lives of people everywhere. I realized that my seemingly insignificant idea was on track to save kids from growing up to be the same drowning-in-debt adults I sat next to every year at the conference. Somehow, I knew any changes needed to start with the parents. If parents understood how to save, spend, and share their money the right way, their children would grow up able to pay off their student loans, buy a house, and live a worry-free financial life.
