Escobar, Miguel (As told to)
Alfredo Fernandez was born in Cuba in 1945. He holds a degree in History from the University of Havana. His writings in Spanish include short stories and novels (among them El candidato, winner of the 1978 Premio Novela Cirilo Villaverde, and Lances de amor, winner of the 1993 Premio Novela Carpentier). He now teaches at the University of Houston.
