More DescriptionPearl Street Memories begins with the early life of Stella Hart, a beautiful child born to indifferent, narcissistic parents. When those parents abandon her at age four, she nearly dies before being rescued and relocated by her grandparents to their home full of unconditional love on Pearl Street. Childhood finds Stella enmeshed in all sorts of mischief, wonder and mystery from stealing cigarettes to learning to pitch a perfect curve ball to accidentally discovering a dead neighbor to forming a friendship with an exotic stranger.
Later, when Stella embarks on her adult life, these childhood experiences inform the choices she makes and the way she copes when her life is irrevocably changed by brutal trauma. As she works to heal from her pain, she explores her past, and wonders just how permanently etched into her psyche are her childhood scars. Ultimately she learns to navigate the world, recognize her definition of reality might not match society’s, but that’s okay, it’s hers.
