More DescriptionPreviously published as Petra's Escape in Berlin by Erika MartinIn 1945, Petra Schumann tries to flee the chaos of Berlin with her fiancé, Andreas Müller, during the last days of the Third Reich amidst flaring firebombs, hand-to-hand fighting, gunshots, and the rapes of many women and girls. Andreas belongs to the Widerstand, resistance, and resolves to escape with Petra to safety outside of the city. As Berlin is about to fall to the Russians, Andreas and Petra find themselves cornered by three Bolsheviks who have revenge on their minds. Caught in the crosshairs of the fiercest battle between the Nazis and Soviets, they become victims of war. As they grieve the loss of loved ones who have perished, they are themselves faced with a battle for their lives. After Andreas is shot in the chest and barely alive, Petra, severely wounded herself, is determined to get help for her man. Her undying love for him will help her find a way to save him. She drags his wounded body into a nearby ruin to hide him and sets out to find medical help for him. Although, as she faces more danger along the way, she is unwavering to do all she can to keep him from dying. Her determination, however, is put to the test when she runs into a group of children who have lost their beloved teacher and she knows she must go on a mission to save them as well. Being severely injured herself, will Petra be successful or fail in her mission to save Andreas and the children? The big question, however, is: Will Petra and her beloved Andreas survive the war to celebrate their wedding, have children, and thus begin to build a peaceful life after the carnage of WWII?
