Known as the Maraudians, these plunderers use the buccaneers as unwilling time travelers in their insatiable quest for gold. After narrowly defeating the infamous Blackbeard in a fierce battle that changes history, Rosario returns from his adventures in the past, disfigured and crazed with revenge. He has lost most of his crew, the greater portion of his treasure, and the one love of his life. When he attempts to flee from the vicious Maraudians, he is snared by a temporal storm, which takes him back in time once again, but then returns him to the nineteenth century just moments before he left it. Hot in pursuit to secure what remains of Rosario's gold, the super pirates soon recapture him. But their priorities suddenly change when they discover that the temporal storm may have been caused by the ultimate treasure of the Universe--the Esseen crystals, which bestow divine powers on anyone who possesses them.
