The Posthuman Universe involves, at its most basic premise, the manufacturing of superheroes. More DescriptionThe Posthuman Universe involves, at its most basic premise, the manufacturing of superheroes. Posthumans are fabricated: powerful, bio-enhanced supersoldiers with latent abilities and incredible resistance to injury. No one is born this way, but many are born to be something greater than they were. But all of these new abilities come with a catch: a limited lifespan, and mortal risk in the heat of battle. The posthuman experiment begins with early espionage and black ops efforts, then spreads to a National Hero system where posthuman representatives do good works and solve conflicts between rival states, so the conventional militaries don't have to. Soon, the movement spreads to sanctioned teams of national and corporate sponsored posthumans, providing disaster relief and public services, but always with the heavy hand of propaganda. When Confrontation Teams are developed by the corporate thinktanks as a means of fabricating exciting conflict for media consumption, things turn chaotic quickly, as some so-called bad actors discover they really CAN act as the criminals they pretend to be. And from there, it's a battle royale and the stakes become very real. Posthuman is a fully self-contained role-playing game, utilizing the Conflict Resolution System [CRS, pronounced CURSE], a simple attribute and combat based set of rules that can be used to resolve any number of combat scenarios with varying degrees of complexity. The Sourcebooks are a series of character collections that feature characters and teams that can be used in the game. In this book: Book Four continues with the Confrontation Team system in its early period: posthuman squads trained by the same organizations, both government and private, to operate as fabricated conflict agents. Developed as a means to combat lagging public interest in posthuman Sanctioned Teams and National Heroes performing disaster relief, community outreach and propaganda actions, the Confrontation Team system seeks to capitalize in popular fascination with costumed conflict. Later, some early fabricated Confrontation Teams go rogue and become the very agents of chaos they were trained to pretend to be, while new teams appear out of the Black Labs operating internationally, acting as criminal posthuman Megagangs and spawning a new era of chaos and collateral damage on the world stage as National Heroes and Sanctioned Teams clash with enemy posthuman elements in open combat. It is posthuman war. This book is Part 02 of a two-part series. In other words, even more villains! In these volumes, various bad actors and Megagangs have been provided. While many Confrontation Teams only exist as fabricated conflict agents, those that evolve into true Megagangs, and those that develop independently from the Confrontation Team System, are shown within!
