The book has been specifically designed with the nurse in mind and each drug entry provides: a brief synopsis, source details, notes on common usage(s), and recommended dosage for common conditions where applicable. PRINCIPLE DRUGS provides ready access to the uses, doses, and side effects of currently available therapeutic agents together with brief notes on the nature and treatment of 31 common illnesses. The book is divided into two main sections Dictionary of Drugs & Drugs and their use in some Common Disorders. The dictionary of drugs is ordered by approved name with brand name in brackets as recommended by British National Formulary. There are over 150 new entries to this edition that reflect the advances that have been made in therapeutics in recent years. This first section also includes notes on dosage; drug administration and responsibility; controlled drugs; and drug compliance. The section on some common illnesses has also been revised and now includes notes on angina, gout, prostatic hyperplasia and tuberculosis. There are also appendixes which includes an extensive list of both the approved and proprietary names of drugs, further information on cephalosporins, tetracyclines, penicillins, etc.
