Ray Liotta is an American actor and producer. He is best known for his roles in the films Goodfellas, Field of Dreams, and Unlawful Entry. His voice role as Tony Soprano in the HBO series The Sopranos earned him an Emmy Award nomination.
Liotta was born in Newark, New Jersey, on December 18, 1954. He was raised in an Italian-American family in Union City, New Jersey. He attended Union Hill High School, and Liotta has said that his parents may have encouraged him to become an actor because "they always wanted to see me do something that they never got a chance to do."
Liotta appeared in several other films throughout the 1990s, including Unlawful Entry and Something Wild. In 2000, he starred in the film Hannibal, playing FBI agent Will Graham.
Ray Liotta has also had a successful television career. He appeared as a regular cast member on the NBC drama ER from 1999 to 2006. In 2007, he began appearing in the HBO series The Sopranos as Tony Soprano's uncle, Junior Soprano. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on the show.
