More DescriptionRED TABS, is a fictionalized autobiographical account of the author's candidacy at the United States Army's Officer Candidate School during the build up for the Vietnam War. It is not a memoir--but an action-packed novel combing numerous real life characters and events into single characters in the novel.Officer Candidate School urban legends, actual events and the daily life of candidates are reflected in the fast-paced chapters.RED TABS, is a descriptive insider's account of what really went on in the OCS Program, where as high as 60% of the candidates dropped out or were ran out of the school before graduation. The protagonist is a young Special Forces sergeant (Green Beret) who has just finished eighteen months of very difficult training and then is sent to another very difficult military school designed to produce officers for the war.Male bonding, honor, trauma, action, jealousy and overcoming extreme hardships are all parts of the novel. There are currently 160,000 OCS officers on active duty, retired or discharged in the United States. They are and were the true "citizen soldiers" who have defended this great Nation from day one.
