In the light of Russia's aggressive policies in Europe's neighborhood, NATO needs to develop a renewed deterrence strategy adapted to current security issues, chief among which is hybrid warfare. This paper argues that NATO needs to strengthen the conventional elements of deterrence as well as reconsider political, economic, and nuclear deterrence. Finally, it highlights the need for better NATO-EU coordination in tackling hybrid threats.
