More DescriptionSt. Theodosius, by his fame, was the first in all of Palestine. The emperor sent him 30 liters of gold as a gift, supposedly for the needs of the monastery. By this, St. Theodosius immediately understood that the emperor wanted to bribe him. And how wisely this saint of God acted! He did not wish to keep this money at the monastery - even though they were in great need; neither did he want to return it to the emperor so as not to embitter him even more against Orthodoxy; but he immediately distributed all the gold to the poor [and needy] in the emperor's name, so that with this charity he may strengthen his prayer to God.
