Author Biography
Ray, Rex (Author)
Rex Ray was born Michael Patterson on September 11, 1956 in Germany, where his father was in the service. He received a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Art Institute in San Francisco. He was a graphic designer who created book covers, tour posters, and album art. His collages, paintings, and design work have been exhibited at several galleries and museums including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the University Art Museum in Berkeley, San Jose Museum of Modern Art, The Crocker Museum in Sacramento, and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. A monograph of his work, Rex Ray: Art + Design, was published in 2007. He died from lymphoma on February 9, 2015 at the age of 58.
