These questions comprise the themes of the contributions to this volume by French, German, and Italian authors. R. Baum and M. Zink take on the concept of philology, while A. Corbellari, P. Gasparini, and U. Bahler look at three classics of Romantic philology: Bedier, Rajna, and Paris. The contributions by M. Espagne, F. Janowski, and H. Meter concern the relationship between philology and the cultural sciences, and thus offer an outlook at the future situation of the discipline. German, Italian, and French text.
