More Description"Sally Pie Face" is a series of books about the Pie Face family whom are fun, vibrant and colorful. They are about diversity and being different. The message for the young readers is that we are all the same no matter what color we are. Teaching children even though we are all different we still all strive for the same thing in life and that is to be accepted and loved. Instead of white, black and brown the Pie Face family are the primary and secondary colors that children are first introduced to at an early age. "Sally Pie Face" is a family of five. Each one is a different pie head with a personality to match. Sally is cherry pie, the color red. She is a positive, cheerful, and a happy little girl. Sally's sister Monet is key lime pie and the color yellow. She is sweet but tart and a little toughie. Frederick is their older brother and is blueberry pie. He is unhappy and misunderstood. He cries the blues a lot and that is why he is the color blue. Mom is pleasant, warm and nice. She is the person you want to be around during the holidays. She is the color orange and she is pumpkin pie and her name is also Pumpkin. Lastly, Sally's dad is known as Apples. He is the green sour apple not the red sweet apple. He is known to get a little grumpy and he is the color green. The name "Sally Pie Face" originated about fourteen years ago when my son just simply looked at his deflated Danny Phantom balloon that we bought for him at one of the Disney parks and he called it "Sally Pie Face". The balloon became this round ball with long thin balloons sticking out from each side of the round balloon with a small bubble at the end of each one. Immediately I fell in love with the name. At first I thought it was a name he heard or read about and it was not. I encouraged him to write a book because writing was something he enjoyed. I also thought it would help my son because life at that time had its challenges outside of family life. I felt this could give him something to be proud of. So, one night we all sat around the kitchen table and created the Pie Face family. It was a family endeavor. My son wrote the original book, "Sally Pie Face". I did the illustrations with a little help from my daughter. We self published the first addition in 2008. To help promote "Sally Pie Face" we did some skits on YouTube, did some book signings and I called a local TV station and they interviewed my son on their morning show. I made the pie heads for the skits we acted out for You Tube. My husband and I, both my children and my daughter's friend played the characters. It was at a book signing when a teacher bought a few of the books and excitedly said this book was perfect for what she was teaching in class to her students about diversity. We became involved with our kids activities as they were growing up and I put Sally Pie Face on the back burner. I am now going after a fourteen year dream that I have never given up on. I revised the original book, "Sally Pie Face", with rewriting and changing the illustrations. I am working with a graphic design artist who is turning my illustrations into vector art. I am working on a series of "Sally Pie Face" books. "Why Am I Different?" is the second book in the series. "Let's Play A Game" is the third book. "Pandemic" is the forth and I am currently working on my fifth book. There will be more books to follow and merchandise. I hope you and your children will enjoy "Sally Pie Face" and will feel the same way as I do as special with endless opportunities.
