Author Biography
Brademas, John (Author)
John Brademas was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on March 2, 1927. He enrolled at the University of Mississippi, where he joined a Navy officer training program. After his freshman year, he won a scholarship and transferred to Harvard University, where he graduated with high honors in 1949. He attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and in 1954 earned a social studies doctorate.

From 1959 to 1981, he served as a Democratic representative in Congress from Indiana. He was the president of New York University from 1981 to 1992. He wrote several books during his lifetime including Washington, D.C., to Washington Square and The Politics of Education: Conflict and Consensus on Capitol Hill with Lynne P. Brown. He died on July 11, 2016 at the age of 89.
