More DescriptionSeeing the Invisible investigates the realities of homelessness through the lens of contemporary art. The selected artists examine a wide range of sociopolitical issues including the imbalances of power, economic disparity and consequences of antiquated government policies by utilizing activism and social engagement as a common theme. The artworks are a result of each artist's personal interests, experiences, and desire to dispel conventional myths, labels, and associated stigmas that continue to define homelessness individuals. The artwork utilizes social and political advocacy, direct interaction, and community involvement as means to initiate discourses and advance basic human rights. This exhibit challenges the viewer to confront some of the complex issues surrounding homeslesness and personal bias. It is through this confrontation that sight may lead to the insight that individual participation can be a powerful and effective means for instigating positive and lasting solutions.
