More DescriptionFor three years, seven New England artists were invited to ?draw? directly onto one of the gallery walls during a series of weeklong residencies. Each iteration of the SEVEN exhibition began with a white gallery and culminated in an incredibly rich collection of seven large-scale ?mural? works that engaged and communicated with one another. The term ?drawing? was intentionally left open-ended, without guidelines or a designated theme, to allow each artist to distinctly create on the wall as it spoke to them. While highlighting the performative aspects of drawing, SEVEN expanded the definition and understanding of the medium. The series featured a wide range of mediums including: performance, weaving, digital projection, Google video chat, chalk, paint, tape, sharpies, pastels, adhesive vinyl, and audience participation. This book project was completed not only to document the works created by the twenty-one participating artists, but to continue to share the SEVEN experience with our audiences.
