More DescriptionRead the amazing true story, which began when a brave, resilient, affectionate, smart & exceptional Cat deserved a better life, and he found it! This story began when the author, Deborah Silver, vacationing with her husband Elliot, taking their biennial Passover trip to Israel, found a street cat lying in the dirt beside a dumpster, with the left side of his face having a large open wound, which turned out to be a burst abscess! After two trips to two different veterinary clinics in Jerusalem, antibiotics, medicine to treat fleas and worms, since an allergic reaction to untreated fleas and worms may have caused the abscess in the first place, brought new life to a seriously injured cat, which the author, Deborah Silver, affectionately named "Simcha," which is the Hebrew word for joy. Because of the great joy this street Cat brought to her life. She needed Simcha as much as he needed her. Deborah Silver determined that Simcha would not remain living near a dumpster, and resolved to do whatever it took to find Simcha a loving home. When no one stepped up in Jerusalem to adopt Simcha, Deborah Silver posted photos and information about Simcha on her Facebook page, until a friend and client residing in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, agreed to adopt Simcha if no one in Jerusalem adopted Simcha. The race was on, to find a way to catch Simcha one last time, in order to bring Simcha to America! With the help of the professional cat catcher, aptly named Emmanuel, which means God with us, Simcha was miraculously caught, for the third and final time. But the adventure did not end there. When Deborah and Simcha arrived at the ticket counter at United Airlines, she was told Simcha could not come on board the plane because his plastic cat carrier was too large to fit under the seat in front of Deborah. Well, Deborah did not take no for an answer, saying this is discrimination, as large dogs are allowed on planes as "service animals," but not cats! God gave favor with the airport security staff, who persuaded the manager of United Airlines to make an exception and allow Deborah to bring Simcha on the plane with her. Since Deborah had already paid $125 for Simcha, when she spoke with Ida, another United Airlines employee on the telephone, in the days preceding her flight. Then Deborah was subjected to a strip search, and hours of irrelevant questioning by airport security staff, who feared that Deborah might be harboring a bomb inside Simcha, or inside Simcha's plastic cat carrier! She was asked why she would want to pick a frail sick street cat to take with her to America, when she could buy a healthy cat in good physical condition. Security staff made Deborah take off her bra, and waved their metal detectors over all parts of Deborah's body and clothing, and did the same thing to poor Simcha, and inside his plastic cat carrier. Mentally and physically exhausted, from all of this, Deborah and Simcha just made their flight in the nick of time, and Simcha was allowed on the floor right next to Deborah in the very last row of the plane! God went before them. This is a love story that will inspire you. With God all things are possible! Simcha is now living with a loving family in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, and will never again suffer from being outside in the cold, or from hunger and thirst. Simcha had to battle for every bite of food, competing with 10+ other street cats in his territory, and with aggressive large crows, even while Simcha was recovering from two surgical procedures. What this wonderful Cat has been through. But, with the help of God, and with Deborah's help, he is now happily transitioning to a loving home in Pennsylvania. God is good. This is a love story with a happy ending, that will make everyone smile! This inspiring book contains many color photos of Simcha the Cat, at different stages of his amazing journey. A picture is worth a thousand words. You will fall in love too!
