In the meantime, Meg Patterson's new coffee shop, Wholly Ground, is doing well and her wedding with Brad Sampson is on the horizon. She and Brad have become a frequent foursome with her best friend, Pam Starnes, and Conner County Sheriff Sonny Thomas. New friendships have the sheriff wondering whether faith in God could actually be life changing. Between their positive influences and that of his trusted deputy, Dewey West, Sonny is developing a long list of questions about faith, God, and the possibility of an afterlife.
