Childhood depression is one of the loneliest, most misunderstood aspects of some people's childhoods. Many children live a life of shame and masking due to the mental health stigmas that swirl throughout our society. And often, it's swept under the rug or not discussed so our youth don't always understand that help exists or what they are experiencing isn't normal. As adults, it's hard for us to remember why some things are so "earth shattering" to our youth because we are so removed...
More DescriptionChildhood depression is one of the loneliest, most misunderstood aspects of some people's childhoods. Many children live a life of shame and masking due to the mental health stigmas that swirl throughout our society. And often, it's swept under the rug or not discussed so our youth don't always understand that help exists or what they are experiencing isn't normal. As adults, it's hard for us to remember why some things are so "earth shattering" to our youth because we are so removed from those younger years. Our youth shouldn't have to suffer in silence and walk the path alone, completely misunderstood. These are a collection of situations experienced by some youths who have depression or depressive mood, told by the viewpoint of magical creatures. Why? Easy. Our youth are magical exactly as they are and sometimes magic isn't enough to even cure depression. But it doesn't make them less magical or less important. However, finding other youth to connect with who have similar challenges can be difficult. This book was created so those suffering in silence could know they don't suffer alone and hopefully find that adult who can, and will, help them learn to live with and manage their depression. For parents, this book can help you understand the struggles our youths with depression or depressive mood are experiencing and maybe even have those hard, scary conversations with our youth.
The author of this book is not a clinician, just a mother. As such, this book should not be used for diagnostic purposes or in lieu of seeking medical care. The purpose of this book is to breath life into the challenges facing our youth who battle depression and depressive mood.
