More DescriptionSuga, Don¿t Grind ¿ Know Caine is a dynamic novel by Daryl B Thomas. It is written as a comedy, focused on inspiration and motivation, and resolved through principles of conflict management, leadership, and responsibility. The story centers around the ambitions of seven students who leverage their gifts in performing arts to raise money for charity. The protagonist, Virginia ¿Suga¿ Lee, is a graduate student who leads the team through a year of competitions featuring other college students from campuses across the nation. Bo ¿Know-Grind¿ Williamson is the team¿s founder who looks to Suga and his best friend, Orlando ¿Summa-Time¿ Caine to help him balance team dynamics and workload. In the process, the team is confronted with impassible acts of sabotage by Alexias Griffin, also a graduate student who leads her own team with plans to overtake Suga¿s team and emerge as the university program leader. Bo and his teammates also face internal challenges as he and his girlfriend, Prycee (pronounced Pre-See) ¿Poetry¿s Needs¿ Harrison fight to keep their relationship in tact during a year of planning, long practice sessions, and heavy course loads. Michael ¿Primal Urge¿ Peterson, also a team member of SDGKC makes matters worse by finding himself involved with Alexias as the story progresses. The novel covers much ground in less than 400 pages: conflict management, organizational leadership, creative arts, and motivation through inspiration of the performing arts. The characters come together as people with diverse backgrounds, nationalities, and perspectives in order to reach a common goal: to raise money for causes which are important to young people in their communities. Their combined effort grows into a nation-wide event among college and university students across the United States.
