More Description
Swift Reflections: Poetry Inspirations is the sister novella to my novel, Songs of the Unsung: How Your Stories & Poetry Become the Folklore of a Select Luminary. Also, it is the grandchild to my novel, Fallen from Grace (2018). A second edition of Fallen from Grace was published in 2019.
Writing became a way for me to express my dreams, desires, difficulties, as well as self-reflect on many situations. My other novels provide the reader with the full story that inspired the poems that I wrote throughout the years. I discuss how many of my poems sound eerily similar to some songs by Taylor Swift.
While most of her work is original and her own, I have found some songs clearly resemble other writer's work, including some of my own. Some songs that sound exactly like my poems include: Getaway Car, The Man, My Tears Ricochet, It's Time to Go, Right Where You Left Me, and some other unique phrases and expressions used in other songs. An example of her lyrics include: "Should've known I'd be the first to leave/...So I stole the keys/That was the last time you ever saw me." I could not help but notice those lyrics sound like my poem, which was written first, and include the lines: "You thought I'd never leave, guess it took you by surprise when I got up and took the keys." The other songs I mentioned include very similar examples. As a writer, we know how important it is to protect our uniqueness and originality, and that is why I am discussing it. Also, I believe whenever artists use other people's work as their own, they should provide proper references. Please note that Taylor Swift did have collaborators on many of these songs, so the lines that are similar may not have been written by her.
The poems are included in the previous novels, but I decided to put all of them into their own, separate, novella. Also, I provide pictures and descriptions of the other novels.
